Chapter 6 : Caesar's Mission

• To which Caesar replies “Originally according to our intel there was a need to save only Mattie. But as I went in I saw there were way more animals than I could save in the little time and planning I had. So, I had to decide to save only him and come back later for the others.”

  Sam could not hide the shock he felt as he listened to Caesar’s story. Understanding his emotions, Caesar gave him a nod and continued, “The first challenge was entering the facility, that's where you came in. During our pre-mission preps, we found that the guards changed shifts exactly at 0130 hrs and so for 15 mins there would be no guards in the area. Maybe they didn’t think it was important or are just arrogant to think nothing will go wrong; however, it worked in my favour and I used it as my entry point for the facility. Now, this area is situated right behind your house, so coming to your house was crucial for my mission.

• So we made a plan; knowing a bit about your past I knew that you would not ignore me and if it was almost nightfall, then you might even take me home.”

  “What if I just took you to the clinic? What would you have done then?” Sam showed his curiosity.

  To which Caesar replied, “Can you stop interrupting me? It is hard to tap for so long, I still have a long story ahead.”

• “Oh! Sorry, I am just curious, that's all. Maybe we can figure out something else, which would make it much easier for us to communicate.”

  “Right, we’ll think of that later. Continuing, it was a risk I had to take, but luckily you took me to your house.

  After you went to sleep I sneaked outside and dug a tunnel under the wall and entered the facility. What shocked me the most is that as I entered the backdoor, all I saw were cages and cages with dogs, cats, and some other animals too! I recognized many rare breeds and it shocked me to my core. Immediately I had to contact HQ about making changes to the original mission, but not enough time was there to rescue them.

• If I had acted then and called the cops on them the head of this facility would not have been caught. We need to find evidence to prove our claim and so with a very heavy heart I just took Mattie and left. Now I’ll need to find a way to rescue them all in which I would need you to help.”

  It was too much information for Sam to embrace in such a short span but being an ex-serviceman, understood the urgency and gravity of the situation quickly and nodded in affirmation.
