Heartgard Plus Chewables & Nexgard Combo

The dosage of Nexgard for dogs varies in accordance with the weight of the canine. 2.7-6.9 mg/Kg body weight is the recommended dosage. These chewable tablets are available in four different packs marked by different colours. Refer dosage table for details.

To administer, put the tablet directly in the pet’s mouth. If the dog resists then you can mix with his food. In this case, make sure that the pet completes his meal so as to intake the entire dosage. Repeat after 30 days (one month), precisely on the same date.

Note:- Safety of Nexgard in breeding, pregnant and lactating dogs has not been approved. So, follow your vet’s advice if your pet is in any of these stages.

• Keep away from children and pets.
• In case, the pet has a history of epilepsy or seizures then vet advice prior to buying Nexgard is a must.
• Follow the label instructions to get details about administration, expiry date, dosage and precautions.
• Store at temperature below 30°C (86°F).
• Adverse reactions are rare but may be observed in hypersensitive pets. If your pet shows symptoms like vomiting, appetite loss, lethargy, flaky skin, diarrhea etc. then consult a vet immediately.
• Wash hands with soap and water after giving the chewable to the pet.

Contraindications

Do not give to pets allergic to any of the ingredients of Nexgard.

• Heartworm testing is recommended prior to beginning treatment.
• Weigh your pet and choose the appropriate pack based on your dog’s weight. (Refer the below given dosage table for details)
• Only remove a single chewable from the foil blister at a time.
• Place the rest of the chewables back in the box to protect from light.
• Give Heartgard Plus Chewable once a month on the same day of each month year round.
• Heartgard Plus Chewable should not be swallowed whole.
• Chewables may be broken and fed to dogs as pieces, or crumbled and mixed with food.
• Administer in the way that encourages your dog to chew instead of swallow.
• Ensure that your dog consumes the full dose, and then observe afterward to be sure none is rejected or lost. If any portion of the dose is lost, re-dose.
• To switch from another heartworm preventative to HEARTGARD Plus, administer this treatment within 30 days of the final dose of your dog's old preventative.
• If your dog goes more than 30 days without heartworm prevention, the efficacy of the ingredient Ivermectin may be lower. For this reason, the treatment should be administered monthly on the same day each month.
• If your dog's treatment is delayed by a few or several days, treat immediately and resume the recommended schedule to mitigate potential adult heartworm development.

Dosage Table:

HEARTGARD Plus is recommended for dogs 6 weeks of age and older. For dogs over 45kg use the appropriate combination of tablets based on weight.

• Heartgard Plus Chewables are for dogs only. Do not give to cats.
• Dog should be tested by veterinarian before heartworm prevention is initiated.
• Read the enclosed leaflet before using the product.
• Although side effects are rare but may show up in hypersensitive canines. Overdosing may result in tremors, dilated pupil, and weight loss.
• Avoid contact with eyes.
• Wash hands after use.
• Do not freeze. Protect from direct sunlight.
• Human ingestion may prove poisonous. If such cases arise then consult a physician immediately.
• In case the dosage is missed for more than two months, you need to consult a veterinarian and take his advice for further treatment.

Caution: Collies including Border Collies and other breeds have genetic intolerance to Ivermectin. Those pet parents with Collies and other susceptible breeds should consult a veterinarian before administering any treatment containing Ivermectin.
